Abraham Lincoln

Eli Whitney

(1765-1825, inventor of the cotton gin in 1794)

as a commissioner to represent the interests of such

American Citizens as may desire to become exhibitors

at the Exhibition of the Industry of all Nations

to be held in the city of London in the year 1802!!!

BUT, Abraham Lincoln wasn't born until 1809

and Eli Whitney died 36 years before Lincoln

became president.

How can this be true?

The Answer: The date "1802" is really 1862 (look closer).  AND ... This is NOT the Eli Whitney who invented the cotton gin (and who died in 1825);  it is HIS SON.
