This resolution of the South Carolina
Convention was the direct action which asked
for and received the agreement of the Southern
slave-holding States in creating the
“Confederate States of America”.
Resolved
That copies of the ‘Ordinance of Secession’ adopted by this convention; and the ‘Declaration of the immediate causes which induce and justify the secession of South Carolina from the Federal Union’ and of the 'Address of the People of South Carolina assembled in Convention, to the People of the Slaveholding states of the United States’, be transmitted by the Governor of this State to the Governors of the slaveholding States of the United States, for the information of their respective Legislatures or Conventions, where conventions of the people have been called, in any of the said slaveholding states.
